at a store like JoAns I have a harder time because so many of their fabrics are not compatible with each other. I love going to quilt shops or even a huge store here that carries overstocks of nice cottons because the colors are richer and within a manufacturer you can find similar colors and prints.

I agree taking a friend helps (or my H he has a great eye for color too)
or spending time in a quilt shop the shop owner, clerks and other choppers love to help.

My nearest fabric source is Joann's, and I find it very difficult to assemble well coordinated selections there. It's so frustrating...and time-consuming. I have occasionally done fairly well at the WalMart, and recently got some really pretty fabrics there. But it's very hit or miss.

When I lived in Wisconsin, there were a couple of absolutely wonderful shops I frequented. Never had a problem other than soooooooooo many choices, and always left happy without getting a headache trying to match or coordinate fabrics. Guess I was spoiled there.

I don't have too many choices on fabric stores in my town. There is Walmart, JoAnn's and a quilting store. The quilting store prices their fabric out of my budget. I was in there not to long ago and the cheapest fabric was 14 dollars a yard...I can't afford that. *sadness* When I look online I can't decide or pick out fabric. I like to see it and touch it and then start matching stuff.
