Sometimes the wrong side of a piece looks good,,,and almost any thing can be incorporated into something with small pieces so a lot of the ugly isnt showing, just a small color from it here and there

"One quilter's ugly is another quilter's treasure!"
When I received several pieces of what I thought were ugly half yard cuts that I had purchased in a 'bulk buy' (that was an "irresistable price"...now I know why), I took them to a quilt retreat as my prizes for a game and couldn't believe the compliments the fabric pieces had received!!! LOL They wanted even more of these fabrics than they had received because they liked them so well!!!!! Several ladies already had projects in their mind in which they planned to use my "ugly" fabric!!!! So- go figure! One person's ugly is NOT considered an ugly by someone else!

How true ollie1shoe. The LQS owner where my quilt club meets picks out an 'ugly' for us each year for the challenge. Last year's fabric definately fell in that category -- but I fussy cut it to make an inner border. I picked the fabric colors from the 'ugly'. In the end, I liked the quilt. This year, the 'ugly' wasn't something I would normally pick for myself, but it was far from ugly. In fact the only person who didn't like the fabric was the club leader, supposedly she said something about the fabric not needing to be 'that ugly'. It was roses on a green background.
