ARGHHHHH! I have to admit that I'm still a 'Cringer" when it comes to tearing fabric but I'm trying to be open-minded here, LOL.

Can I ask? Are the pros and cons to tearing as opposed to cutting?

Thanks!

Nancy, if the fabric is good quality and you tear across the width, you will quickly find the straight grain. Cutting on the straight grain means straighter strips, easier piecing, and a smoother quilt top.

That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Tearing also takes more fabric for the pattern. Eleanor never washes her fabric. So, it is all a matter of what you are used to doing.
