Remember what El says, If you are driving by in a car at 20 miles per hour, and if you can see that the border is pieced, then remove it,but if you can't see it, leave it!! Best advice. You will be the only one that sees it.
Now, if you are entering this quilt in a judging, that is a different story.

I also join seams using a 45* angle. It will not show once it is quilted.

It will not show as much if you miter where you sew together.
