Don't get discouraged. It will come out. Be a little aggressive and try. I have always used a product from Amway called Tryzme. It takes out everything you don't want. The spit from a baby, blood, bad grass stains, etc. I am sure you can get the pencil marks out. We are all with you and have been there with our mistakes. So, take heart. It will not be your last. Sh-h-. I am sure your quilt will be beautiful. Let us all know how it comes out. We have faith that you will get it, and then finish it.

Try spraying the dark areas with shout. I do that to my clothes whent they have stains and it works on everything. Great stuff. I always say just Shout it out. lol

Sew Clean. I got some at the Houston Quilt show. I watched the demonstration and this stuff took out pencil marks and it has no harsh chemicals. You can probably find it on the internet.

I've had great luck with soaking in a cold water/oxyclean mix and then laundering normally.

This is weird: Sew Clean™ is the most effective alternative when it comes to removing uric scale from deep inside black water systems. Formulated specifically to clean sewage systems from toilet to tank, will dissolve clogs which cause plumbing to overflow and create nasty odors.
I guess the name is play on the sewage?
I'm guessing this is not the product you saw demoed? LOL

Well ladies, I went to work yesterday afternoon and pulled out the damaged quilt and removed the machine quilting I had started, luckily it wasn't too large of an area. I then separated the top from the other layers and sprayed it with spray and wash and washed after soaking for a half an hour. It faded somewhat but was still there so I decided to try the Windex. I sprayed it again with the Windex and threw it in again soaking for about an hour. I was laughing because it reminded me of the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding and how the father used Windex to cure everything. Well, guess what it worked so now I need to let it dry and press it again and start over. This time I am going to hand quilt which is what I wanted to do but at the time I didn't know how. Thanks for all the encouragement and ideas!

My answer to any and all stains is...Borax. You just throw some in with your detergent, and stains get out. Actually, I usually use it in the wash anyway, whether there are stains or not. It is especially good on blood stains and red wine. You can also use it on the carpet and for a ton of other things.

Maybe I will try some Windex on my pencil-stained UFO....did it affect the colors of the fabrics at all?
