Re: quilted jacket
Okay, mom was here and is now gone. She and I built a quilted jacket using a mans shirt as a pattern. We've had some pretty bad storms and then I had a huge scare yesterday and that is why I haven't been back to this thread. I have a few pictures and some directions - mom doesn't have any of her quilted jacket pattern written down so I'll have to do my best in describing it along with the pictures.
My big scare was that about an hour after one of my brothers (he lives in North Ogden) picked up my mom and his kids they called back. It was my brother and his wife's anniversary so mom and I were watching his kids and mine while we were sewing. Anyway, about an hour after they left my brother called me to tell me that he just had a call from North Ogden PD. They called to tell him that our other brother who had been house sitting had been found unconscious along side of his girlfriend and the house was filled with carbon monoxide. The 4 feet of snow on the roof had blocked the heating duct. After we got the call my husband I called the Ogden area hospitals to find out how they were doing, but each hospital we called said that my brother and his girlfriend were not there. We then called North Ogden PD and they said they had been transported but wouldn't tell us anything else so we called the hospitals again only to be told they hadn't arrived. It was at this point we began to think they had died. I was just sick with worry. A few hours later we found that they were okay - feeling pretty bad, but they would live. The hospital didn't get their info in the computers in a timely manner because they were so busy.
Anyway - I'll be getting those pictures and directions out to share soon.

Oh Julie, what a close call. You must have been beside yourselves with worry. I'm glad it turned out ok.
We'll be waiting patiently for your info. Take your time, catch your breath, have a cup of cocoa.

Re: quilted jacket
My guild is having a workshop in a couple of weeks on the jacket using a sweatshirt for a foundation. I have always just pieced the materialand then cut out the jacket. I am anxious to make the sweatshirt one. All I know is you use a shirtshirt two sizes larger than you normally wear. Will let you know what I learn....
