Leah welcome! If you are new quilter you will find that a simple pattern such as the 9 patch would be quick and then use a sashing to tie it all together. Another suggestion is a "scrap" quilt pattern such as the CrayonBox that others have suggested. Have fun and he will treasure the memories ans so will you

Welcome to our world Leah. Nice to have you join us, we just celebrated our first forum birthday this week. If you get stuck working on your quilt, quilts, just get on line and ask. No questions are dumb questions---so remember that. We were all in the same position you are--learning.
