I buy 2 to 3 yards, can't bear to think I might not have enough when I finally find a pattern I want to make! lol

I am in the 2-3 yd group. Sometimes it is cost driven but other times is is just a spur of the moment impulse. Sometimes the fabric drives the project and other times the project is selected first. I really have an easier time if I have fabric and then select the project because at this point I feel more "involved" with the fabric then a pattern. does that make sense?

If I really like it, I will buy 2 to 3 yards. Then I buy something to coordinate with it, usually in smaller pieces--1/2 to 1 yard. And I always have an eye out for anything on sale or in the specials bins.

I try to buy 1/2 yard and if there is cordinating I will buy about a 1/2 yard on them also but if there is a sale some where like Joanns then I wil buy a yard of each.

I have been buying 2 yards but I think 3 is better. I never seem to have enough.

I also buy 2-3 yards, but have been known to get 5 yards....'specially if it's a blue or yellow :)

The other fabric that I buy yards of is one that I get at Hobby Lobby, it's the Quilt Pink with words like "love" and "hope", etc. I use it in a lot of quilts, like baby quilts.

I'm in the 2 1/2 to 3 yards. I prefer having extra fabric than not enough specially with coordinates. If it's in special, sometimes it's 4 to 5 yards. LOL

I don't buy fabric without knowing what pattern I'm going to use and I have the yardage chart with me. I'm pretty anal about that. I have purchased some fat quarters of batiks that I'm going to use to make myself a Yellow Brick Road quilt with. That being said, IF I were to go into the quilt shop and buy fabric just because it's pretty I would get at least 3 yds. I don't usually make small quilts and I wouldn't want to be short of fabric.
