Double Wedding Ring - HELP!

Post by nickilee » Sun Jan 22, 2012 11:52 am

Hi All,
New to this group and enjoy reading the posts with great advice!

I've made a few quilts over the years - all quilt in a day - several trip around the world, log cabin, a few others, but all with nice straight lines!

My sister has requested a double wedding ring. I only see the book with several patterns (Egg Money, or something). Can anyone tell me if that gives all the instructions you need for double wedding queen quilt? Also, do I need to buy templates or anything? And the big question - I think of myself as an experienced beginner - do you think this is too big a step, frankly those circles scare me!

I live in the UK now, although funnily enough used to live next to San Marcos in Cal. where Eleanor is. So I can't easily look at anything before ordering.

Thanks so much, very grateful for anyone's thoughts!

Nicki

Hello Nicki...

the book shows how to make one block and a three block table runner... you certainly can add blocks to make a quilt, the instructions look easy to me.

there are also may be some instruction videos on El's website...hope you post a picture I would like to see what you come up withh.

Thanks Chriss. Does it give the yardage for a queen, by any chance?

i sent you a pm. Egg money quilts book has the templates in them in the back of the book. It doesn't give the yardage for a queen size quilt.. Sandy

Nicki, Hi and welcome! I have only been quilting for 2 years next month and last year we did the wedding ring blocks for our lotto on here and I did them WooHoo! LOL I was so afraid they would be way beyond anything I would be able to do and the way El has you do them in Egg Money Quilts book is so so sew simple :o) I'm sure you will breeze right through them :o) I had a blast making mine :o) I'm sure when you get the rings made it will be easy enough to lay them out to see how many you need for a queen size bed or you could e-mail QIAD and I'm sure they have that info for you :o) Let us see it when you have it all together please, we love pictures! :o)

I have the Egg Money book and made the 3 block table runner and it was so easy. the instructions were so easy to follow - one of these days I am going to tackle a quilt.

Welcome Nicki! I'm starting one myself. I'm using Quiltsmart Double Wedding Ring. It's printed interfacing. For a queen you need 2 packages which has 8 panels each. If you want, go to www.quiltsmart.com. It has photo instructions and template. Good Luck!
