Pattern for a "Bed Roll"

Post by cozyquilt » Tue May 26, 2009 5:58 pm

I don't know if anyone knows what I mean by a bed roll, but, I am looking for a pattern to make one for our camper so that I don't have to always tuck in sheets, etc. I want to use it where the table drops
down and becomes a bed.
What I have in mind is something that is only attached at the bottom and consists of maybe.... a quilt on bottom, next a sheet, then top sheet and blanket. something that I can roll up easily and put away without having to tuck in edges. An that I could toss the blanket off if I need to. I need a top and bottom sheet next to my skin, which is cooler than the inside of a sleeping bag. I am rambling...but, I don't know how to make a bed roll. Do any of you have a pattern that you could share or any idea how to make one? I would appreciate any suggestions.

I don't think the quillow is what she has in mind. She's wanting the sheets attached. I would think you could make the sandwich--bottom, two sheets, top, whatever size you want and sew them together at the bottom with a wide binding and some straps that you can tie the roll with.

Karon, you are right. A quillow will not do what I want it to do. I guess I will just have to use my imagination. Thanks tho.

I believe there is something you might like available on Connecting Threads. It is in one of the catalogs they sent out recently. It was very cute and looked simple. It was a simple quilt rolled up with ties on it to make a roll.

When I saw it I was reminded of the ones the cowboys used to put behind their saddles on the 1940s and 1950s westerns...no I am not really old but...

Happy stitching!!!
