Victory Garden background fabric

Post by DeniseB » Fri Sep 26, 2008 2:55 pm

Hi, I am going to make the Victory Quilt and can't decide which Ivory fabric to use for the overall background. For the blocks I am going to use Ivory Bias Stitch Texture. I can't decide between the Ivory Stars or the Bias Stitch Texture for the rest of the background.

What do you think? I am making the 18 block on point, size 12" block.

Any opinions would be appreciated.

Denise

On another thread the star fabric was mentioned and they didn't care for it because it was hard to work with due to shredding.
Sewcarolyn was the one who worked with it. (if I recall correctly) You may want to pm her about it.

I have most of the blocks finished for the Victory quilt. I used a white on white with stars for the background. I like the way the white looks but I think an ivory would be good too. I like the stars because there are several quilt blocks that are stars and I think stars go with the theme of the quilt.

There are many brands of fabrics to choose from. The white on white fabric with stars that I am using does not shred.

I have a lot of white on white fabrics and beige on beige fabrics in my stash and have no problems with either.

Years ago the white on white and beige on beige were awful. I have tossed out any of the old fabrics. The design felt like it was hard paint. It was just terible to hand quilt through. Now I make sure the fabric is nice and soft.
