Tips on removing sticky glue

Post by Sandy5689 » Thu Sep 18, 2008 5:38 pm

I ironed steam-a-seam on the wrong side of the material. Any ideas on how to easily remove it?

I got it off with a spray water bottle and a Dobie sponge, but there has to be a better way.

You might try using an old wash cloth or a piece of fabric or a paper towel and put it on the sticky and iron over it. Maybe you can lift it off that way.

I've used the Dritz Iron-off Hot Iron Cleaner - available here on this website and it works well. Stinks, though, and I go outside to use it if the weather permits!! I do put it on an old washcloth and then iron over it several times. First time DH saw me doing this on the deck (where there is an outlet) he thought I was cracking up for sure!

Run your hot iron in a circular motion several times over a piece of waxed paper. I got this idea from a book that I have. Give it a try.

I find the Mr. Clean magic eracers when dampened will clean almost anything. They make wonderful iron sole plate cleaners.
