June Tailor Fusible Batting??

Has anyone used the June Tailor Fusible Batting before...? Or is this product, which adveritses no basting or pinning..to good to be true..? I just finished making the "Candy Jar Quilt" by Eleanor Burns, and by the photo in her book, it looks like hers was machine quilted very simply, straight line stich in the ditch, forming squares that are probably 5 to 6 inches apart... The batt package says 4" to 6" quilting.. I hate to mess up the top, if the product doesn't work well, just to save a few hours pinning...! THANKS!

I haven't used June Tailors brand, but I have used Hobbs Fusible and I love it! Just make sure that your iron is hot and steamy and iron both sides of your project, for the Hobbs anyway. I don't have to pin when I use it

I used the June Tailors brand awhile back. At that point I swore I'd never use it again because it didn't "stick". BUT ... a new iron later, when I used a piece leftover for a wall hanging I had much better success with it. Guess my old iron wasn't hot enough. I do find it stiffer than regular batting though so I've not used it since. Hope this helps.

I just bought some of the Hobbs. I LOVE using fusible, because it seems no matter what I do, I have trouble with bunching. I got it for 40% off at hobby lobby, but haven't used it yet.

I usually use spray basting and have had really good luck with it, but I may try a fuseable. Can you iron a quilt that is spread out on the floor?

I am not sure which brand I used, it fused well my only complaint was that it rippled a little when I fused it. Not like I had waves in the quilt itself but like the batting was rippled and when it fused down you could see that.

HEY THANKS for the thoughts! I have been reading other comments on basting as well and getting more ideas. I may try my fusible batt, now that I heard others have used it. The instructions also suggest that you could fuse one side at a time, by not using steam. Maybe I would have better luck making it stick that way... and hopefully not wrinkling.. I do have a new iron... but it's a new $25 iron... so maybe not the greatest for steam power. I thought I'd lay a blanket or towels on the floor (to protect the floor from the heat, and a cushion for the iron) then the quilt sandwich, using masking tape bwt layers to draw taunt. We'll see if I have any luck..!! sjnovak
