My Kenmore is a great machine...have never had any problems with it. would recommend that brand to anyone who is looking for a reasonable machine. I kept my Kenmore because it is so dependable and also to carry around because I don't like taking my computerized Janome out of the house.
I must give my 2 cents though....when you are looking at machines, there are a few options that are great to have for quilting.
Needle down position, different speeds ( great for us beginners ) and being able to move the needle to the right for a scant quarter inch.
