i ws given a rowenta DE871 iron recently...no instructions were included...it does heat up...but i do not see an off/on switch...any opinions about this iron or comments on its use?

I have a DM273 and havent had a bit of trouble with mine why don't try and see if you can go on there website for some directions sorry I can't help anymore than that.

Hmm, I think if the dial is turned all the way to the left then it is in the off position. That is the way of all irons that I have had.

I have a different model Rowenta, and it does not have a shut off, you will need to unplug it if you are done using it, otherwise it shuts off after 8 minutes if it is not moved, but once you move it, it will come back on - hope this helps

I bought a used Rowenta iron a while back from a second hand store that of course did not come with it's manual. I went to the Rowenta USA site, clicked on Consumer Service and took a look at the Product Support area, Download Instructions. I did not find my particular manual listed there, so I emailed them from "Contact Us" found up in the right hand corner of this page: http://www.rowentausa.com/rowenta/frame.aspx

They were awesome! They replied quickly, and told me which one to download that would work for my model. You might give them a try. Mine is the best iron I've ever had!! Couldn't beat the $8 price tag, either! Best of luck to you.
