tumbling blocks pattern and directions

Post by oldmodel66 » Sat Mar 01, 2008 6:21 am

Anyone out there have any suggestions on the easiest and best directions for the tumbling blocks 3 deminsional pattern? It looks so interesting and fun but I don't know where to start.

I know on simply quilts they showed a tumbling blocks that is strip pieced and so it doesn't have y seams you can look it up on HGTV or DIYnetwork.

Yep, I saw that show too and bought the pattern, but I havn't tried to make one yet. It sure looks easier than the traditional method.

I have the Marci Baker pattern ("Not Your
Grandmother's Tumbling Block") that I saw demonstrated on
QNN when it was free. I haven't tried it yet.

Thank you all for your help and direction. I saw the HGTV instructions and sadly have to admit that I became "lost" during the cutting part, having never used a triangle before (am rather new to this). I did look at the Not your Grandmother's and think it looks less complicated. Perhaps I will go that route.
Happy quilting.

I found this pattern using Half Square Triangels to make tumbling blocks. It's made with a four patch block, the block has the white in the top left and end with the white in the bottom right. It is the easiest I've seen.

That just doesn't look like the tumbling blocks I'm used to, but I could be looking at it wrong.
