The best advice I got about a long arm was to buy a used one. So many quilters buy the big ones and then discover they don't use them, they don't have the room anymore, they are too complicated, etc. Quilters Flea Market on Yahoo groups always has LA for sale. If you keep an eye out, you can probably find one near where you live so you won't have to pay for shipping. Of course you won't have the dealer there to train you but many LQS have longarms you could take lessons from. The big LA with computer starts around $30,000. The Gracie LA frame is about $800, you provide the machine, about $700 for a good high speed straight stitch. You can buy used, machine and all for about $500 when someone gets tired of it.

Why don't you look at the midarm systems? Any machine between 12"-17" is a midarm. You can get the entire system, frame, machine(17") and stitch regulator for for $3600. On the other hand, my buddy has the Prodigy with hydraulics, she paid $21,000 for it. She sold me her old system when she bought the Prodigy and I love it. Amie

depends on the brand and if you get a new one or a used one they can run between 6 - 40,000

Sewbug, I just searched yahoo and did not find the quilters flea market. The one that popped up said in bold letters----'THIS IS NOT A FLEA MARKET' or some such.

Could you please PM me with the group???

Thanks, Sharon V.
