Need an idea for a name tag

Post by Evie » Thu Jan 17, 2008 4:41 am

Anyone know of a neat website with ideas for name tags. Or do you have a neat idea you want to share. I need to make myself a name tag for my Thimbleberries club meetings.

Any help/ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm a little stumped on ideas right now.

Make it of an autograph block... you know, the ones that we've done a couple of swaps on??

How much cooler could you be than that!

And you could use Thimblerries fabrics!

i paper pieced a block...but i did not remove the paper...i turned the edges over about 1/2 inch and then covered the back of the block with felt...fuse...hot glue...or overcast by hand...whatever is easiest for you...this made a sturdy name tag...especially if you want to add quilt pins that you have collected...

At the Thimbleberries club I was in we used preprinted labels and wrote our name on them. They have to be backed of corse. Good luck with it and the quilt.

Thanks for all the neat suggestions! I didn't even think of a label!

Mary, this is the quilt for Thimbleberries:

I'm doing the four small projects in Lakeside (blue) theme. We meet once a month, get our pattern and fabric for the month, have drawings, show and tell, and a block lotto. This year we will have a theme for the block lottos. February is Valentine's Day. We make a 12 1/2" block using a focus fabric (all fabric has to be Thimbleberries) and any design we want as long as it's Valentines day. March will probably be St Patricks Day.

If we come in with a homemade name tag, we will get a free fat eight!

These are great ideas. I think I might use one of them to make my guild name tag. Thanks everyone. Lori

I buy a yard of Jensen's labels and have many of them sewed around the edge ahead of time with a neutral thread. Then, when I want a quick label, I just have to write it on, press it and it will be permament. I then hand sew it on the back. I have made lots of cross stitched labels also. Then, I put hearts around the information. It does take time, but it looks great. I have also made pockets on the back of the quilt with info inside the pocket. I usually add a scrap or so of the left over material, just in case there is a future rip or such.
