summer porch quilt

i want to make this pattern but want to use 6in charms i got in a swap. how do i adjust size of diagonal lattice between triangles for 6 inch squares instead of 8 inch squares?

I made it for my MIL at Christmas using 5" charms. I think I cut the strips 1 1/2" for the lattice.

I didn't quite use the instructions in El's book. I used a long strip and sewed my triangles down one side leaving plenty of space for the corners, then I matched them up and sewed the other side. I think you could probably cut a generous strip and sew one side, then mark it with a ruler and figure it out. I work on the "by guess and by golly" method. I guessed at it, and by golly it worked. Unfortunately I'm not good at explaining it.
