Photos of Birds in the Air

Post by Quilter7 » Wed Mar 31, 2010 1:05 pm

El's Helpers said we should share our photos of the quilts we have made. I am hand quilting this Bird's in the Air quilt, and have shared the picture before, but thought I would post the photo again.

I missed it, too! Thank you!!! What a lovely quilt!!! That's such a pretty traditional pattern.

This is my Birds in the Air. I made it for my daughter Willow. I visited QIAD in San Marcos and got the pattern and material there.

both quilts are so different and both are so lovely. The Birds in the Air pattern has fascinated me ever since I read Jennifer Chevarinni's story, "The Lost Quilter" where the heroine, Sarah, a slave, spent years making her Birds in the Air quilt in hopes of aiding her in an escape. Such a compelling story, and now this pattern gives me goose bumps. It's so nice to see it made up! Thank you!

Beautiful quilts! I like how you can set the blocks differently to change the look.
